Most people who live in Lake Nona couldn't name five employers here. The honest answer is more interesting than you'd expect — and a lot of it is hiding in plain sight.

Five things that change how you see this area

1. Orlando International Airport is inside Lake Nona, not next to it. MCO's mailing ZIP is 32827 — the same as Medical City. Around 26,000 people work on that campus across all employers. It is by far the densest concentration of jobs in the area.

2. Orange County Public Schools touches every neighborhood here. More than 23,000 employees across 210 schools, the eighth-largest district in the country. Lake Nona High, Lake Nona Middle, Laureate Park Elementary and Odyssey Middle are all in the area, and the district hires continuously — not just teachers, but bus drivers, food service, maintenance, paraprofessionals and administrative staff.

3. The Orlando VA Medical Center is the single largest employer in Lake Nona itself. Over 4,200 staff and 1,400 volunteers on a 65-acre campus. As a federal facility it posts through USAJOBS.

4. AdventHealth Lake Nona Hospital opens in November 2026 and is hiring right now. A $423 million, ten-story hospital on Narcoossee Road, with roughly 600 physicians, nurses and clinical support staff at opening. This is the largest single hiring event the area has seen in years.

5. Siemens Energy is moving around 3,000 employees into Lake Nona Town Center in 2027. A 242,000 square foot lease — the largest office deal in Orlando in a decade.

Healthcare and life sciences

The anchor sector, and the reason Medical City exists.

  • Orlando VA Medical Center — 32827. 4,200+ staff. Applications through USAJOBS. Nursing, allied health, administration, food service, maintenance, security.
  • Nemours Children's Hospital — 32827. Pediatric specialty hospital. Clinical and research roles.
  • AdventHealth Lake Nona Hospital — opening November 2026. ~600 roles at opening.
  • AdventHealth East Orlando — 32822. 295 beds, 1,900+ staff.
  • AdventHealth Lake Nona ER — 32827.
  • HCA Florida UCF Lake Nona Hospital — 32827. Joint venture with UCF.
  • Orlando Health ER & Medical Pavilion, Randal Park — 32832.
  • UCF Lake Nona Cancer Center — 32827.
  • GuideWell Innovation Center tenants — 32827. Around ten small health and biotech firms sharing a building, collectively a steady trickle of specialist roles.

Education and research

  • Orange County Public Schools — every ZIP in the area. 23,000+ employees. Continuous hiring across every job family.
  • UCF Health Sciences Campus — 32827. College of Medicine, Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, College of Nursing.
  • Valencia College Lake Nona — 32832.
  • University of Florida Research & Academic Center — 32827. College of Pharmacy. Small, but specialized.

Aviation — Orlando International Airport

Around 26,000 people work at MCO. The airport is a jobs ecosystem, not a single employer.

  • Greater Orlando Aviation Authority — roughly 800 direct employees, plus responsibility for the whole campus.
  • Southwest Airlines and JetBlue — the two largest carrier employers in Orlando.
  • Frontier, Breeze, United and other carriers.
  • TSA, Customs and Border Protection, FAA — federal, through USAJOBS.
  • Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport and airport concessions and ground handling.

Logistics and distribution

Concentrated along the 417 corridor and in Meadow Woods.

  • Amazon MCO1 Fulfillment Center — 32824. An 850,000 square foot facility that hired 1,500+ at opening. The highest-volume hourly employer in the area.
  • UPS — around 3,000 across the Orlando metro.
  • The Landstar Boulevard / Boggy Creek / Tradeport Drive industrial corridor in 32824 holds multiple logistics parks with rotating tenants.

Corporate and professional services

  • KPMG Lakehouse — 32827. An 800,000 square foot training campus. Worth knowing that most on-site roles are hospitality, facilities and events rather than audit.
  • Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute — 32827.
  • Tavistock Development Company — 32827. Lake Nona's master developer.
  • Siemens Energy — arriving 2027.

Sports, hospitality and retail

  • USTA National Campus — 32827. 64 acres, around 100 courts. Events, coaching, operations and hospitality roles.
  • Lake Nona Wave Hotel — 32827.
  • Courtyard & Residence Inn Lake Nona — 32827, roughly 200 rooms.
  • Lake Nona Performance Club — 32827.
  • The MCO-area hotel belt — 32822 and 32827. High-volume hourly hiring year round.
  • Retail anchors — Walmart Supercenter at Lake Nona Landing, Target at Lake Nona West, and the Meadow Woods and Conway strip centers.

Government and public agencies

  • Orange County Public Schools — see above.
  • Central Florida Reception Center — 32831. A Florida Department of Corrections major institution. Hires correctional officers, nurses, mental health counselors, food service and maintenance staff continuously.
  • OUC Stanton Energy Center — 32831.
  • Orange County Solid Waste — 32829.
  • City of Belle Isle — 32812.
