The Role

 

Content strategist and lead social producer for USTA mission-focused content (Community Tennis, USTA Coaching, People + Culture, etc.) across USTA-owned and operated social media channels. Works closely with other members of the Content and Communications Team and key stakeholders in the organization to plan and develop compelling Mission-focused social content. Digital storyteller who develops and executes ideas that will generate audience growth, excitement and engagement. * Please note that this position will not be focused on the direct coverage of Pro Tennis tournaments. *

 

  • Leads social producers that develop, edit, and program USTA mission-focused (Community Tennis, USTA Coaching, People + Culture, etc.) social content for use on USTA platforms
  • Collaborates with the broader Content and Communications Team to create unique
    content and strategy around key USTA mission-focused initiatives
  • Leads regular brainstorming and pitch sessions around USTA mission-focused themes
  • Generates new ideas and partners with key business stakeholders on strategic USTA
    mission-focused initiatives
  •  Works closely with designers and videographers for content production needs
  • Manages direct report and freelance resources; oversees workflow and production schedules
  • Supports the development of team members and demonstrates a positive and passionate attitude
  • Maintains quality control procedures and ensures all copy is fact-checked and images are brand-appropriate while adhering to brand standards and established voice across platforms
  • Ensures all content is properly tagged (e.g., handles, hashtags, geo-location, etc.) and
    correct links are used
  • Generates ideas for USTA mission-focused content or activations to achieve business goals that come to life on social media channels
  • Grows reach, scale, and engagement of USTA mission-focused content across social media platforms
  • Stays abreast of daily topical news and trends as they relate to tennis, pop culture, health/wellness, and lifestyle
  • Liaises with the 17 USTA Sections as a point of contact for USTA mission-based social asset development and publishing best practices
  • Results-driven; leverages meaningful conclusions and learnings from KPIs and engagement metrics to improve content performance
  • Stays informed of all corporate marketing moments and how they relate to the social content calendar

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience developing content for use on social media platforms.
  • Experience in field production and/or creation of photos, videos, and graphics is required.
  • Background in tennis or sports content preferred; strong interest in tennis required
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, e.g., journalism or communications, preferred
  • Position requires a high degree of creativity
  • Must have sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure
  • A leader with strong communication skills and the ability to lead full-time staff and contractors
  • Ability to work well both in a collaborative, team environment, as well as independently in creating and posting content without supervisor approval
  • Strong knowledge of the social web, including content creation, best practices, success metrics, and emerging platforms
  • Proven track record of growing and building social media audiences
  • Approaches tasks and deadlines with a sense of urgency
  • Highly organized, excellent writing skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Superior computer skills, proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Adobe Photoshop
  • Prior experience operating and maintaining professional digital video and audio equipment
  • Positive and proactive attitude; Self-starter & resourceful

The expected range for the base salary for this position is $95,000 - $105,000.

This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify.  The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
